Kasbah Bab Ourika
A breathtaking eco-luxury wedding venue perched atop the Ourika Valley in the Atlas Mountains, just 45 minutes from Marrakech.
Kasbah Bab Ourika stands as one of Morocco's most celebrated destination wedding venues, rising majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley in the High Atlas Mountains. Opened in 2008, it has since been featured in some of the world's most prestigious publications including Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, and The World of Interiors — a testament to the timeless beauty and exceptional quality of this remarkable property.
The kasbah is constructed principally from pise, the traditional Berber rammed-earth building technique, which allows it to blend seamlessly with the rocky, ochre landscape around it. Its thick earth walls provide natural insulation throughout the seasons, keeping interiors cool in summer and warm in winter. Solar panels heat the buildings and domestic water supply, while recycled grey water is reused in the gardens. It is widely recognised as one of the most eco-friendly buildings in Morocco.
The 42 rooms — 15 in the main building, 16 in the gardens (including a 5-bedroom private villa and 3 pool suites), and 11 in the new Retreat — are each individually decorated with a unique blend of Moroccan-Berber antiques, vintage rugs, Art Deco furniture, original artworks, handmade fabrics, and curated handicrafts. Every room commands spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains, the Ourika National Park, and the valley below, where groves of olive, orange, and lemon trees line the river banks.
For weddings, the kasbah offers an unmatched combination of natural grandeur and intimate luxury. The entire property — or the new Retreat separately — can be hired exclusively for wedding groups, accommodating up to 90 guests overnight across all rooms, and up to 142 guests for the celebration itself. The outdoor terraces, lush gardens filled with jasmine, bougainvillea, mimosa, and pepper trees, and the spectacular swimming pool set in a warm garden declivity all provide magical spaces for ceremonies, cocktail receptions, and evening dinners beneath a canopy of Atlas Mountain stars.
The in-house culinary team, led by experienced chef Michael Arthur, prepares healthy, balanced, and beautifully presented menus drawing on produce from the kasbah's own bio-gardens and kitchen gardens, as well as the finest seasonal ingredients from the Ourika Valley. Guests enjoy a genuine farm-to-table experience that celebrates local Moroccan and Berber food culture.
Beyond the wedding celebration itself, Kasbah Bab Ourika provides an extraordinary multi-day experience for couples and their guests. Activities include hiking in the Atlas National Parks, visits to the enchanting Ourika waterfalls, camel trekking through the valley, cooking classes, painting workshops, yoga and meditation sessions, spa treatments, and explorations of local Berber markets. The new Retreat building adds a dedicated space for yoga, wellness, and group programming.
The kasbah is located approximately 45 minutes from Marrakech Menara International Airport, making it an accessible yet wonderfully remote escape. Its combination of sustainable luxury, Berber cultural authenticity, panoramic mountain scenery, professional event management, and deeply personal hospitality makes Kasbah Bab Ourika one of the most sought-after and memorable wedding destinations in all of North Africa.
